TL;DR Dane Kissel is an accomplished videographer who's work includes video for The LOK Wishing Tree FoundationThreadless.com, and comedian Justin Golak as well as many other established Chicago comics.

Dane is an American director, producer, screenwriter, actor, and film historian. Part of the New Hollywood wave of filmmaking, he is widely regarded as one of the most significant and influential filmmakers in cinema history. In 1990, he founded The Film Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to film preservation, and in 2007 he founded the World Cinema Foundation. He is a recipient of the AFI Life Achievement Award for his contributions to the cinema, and has won an Academy Award, a Palme d'OrCannes Film Festival Best Director AwardSilver LionGrammy AwardEmmysGolden GlobesBAFTAs, and DGA Awards.

Wait, that's not Dane, that's actually Martin Scorsese. Dane just wishes he did all those things.

That's not to say Dane is without talent. He's done some cool stuff.

It probably started at a very young age when he decided to grab his parents old 1987 RCA camcorder without their permission and film he and his brother doing a live action rendition of their favorite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon episode. Dane and his brother Evan, took turns playing every character's part, each never seeming to play the same part twice. Anyway, it doesn't matter how it turned out and please don't ask to see it. It probably got lost in a move at some point. It's definitely not hidden in the mix of old VHS tapes squeezed in the corner of Dane's bookshelf. Let's just drop it.

In any event, Dane got the bug. Yes, he did go on to get a degree in the subject, but school can only teach you so much.  Whether it was shooting video for local bands, comedians, or weddings, he picked up new skills with every project that came his way. Among notable projects, Dane has shot video for The LOK Wishing Tree FoundationThreadless.com, and a wedding featured on RocknRollBride.com! Not to mention, he's shot sets for numerous Chicago comedians and has now directed and edited two-one hour comedy specials for comedian Justin Golak, the second to be released September 29th, 2017 at lo-class.com!
